On Tuesday, June 26, 2018, about 75 youth came together for a hands-on experience of life at the Real World Summit 2018 at Richmond Community College, Cole Auditorium in Hamlet, NC. The theme was “Welcome To The Real World” – focusing on a one day simulated program that offers our youth hands-on practice learning around areas of fiscal decision-making pertaining to education, careers, lifestyle choices and transitioning into the adult world. Our youth were able to practice life events at the Real World and learn how to make real world decisions, which builds confidence about their abilities to be successful. Realizing that youth face daily challenges and transitioning into adulthood can be overwhelming, this event focused on encouraging our youth and equipping them with the necessary skills through workshops and simulations to have an idea of the Real World and to be prepared for it. The objective was to help them learn about topics related to values and skills needed for adult living and to culminate that learning with activities to practice their skills.
